Housing Support Officer

Reports to: Housing Team Leader

Salary: £23,795.20 per annum (Full time)

Hours: Dependent on employment type

Locations

We have vacancies available for the below regions:

  • Quinton, Birmingham (Part Time)
  • Uxbridge/North London (Full Time)
  • Essex (Full/Part Time)

Part time hours will vary between 20-25 hours per week.

Purpose

To ensure high-quality needs lead support is given to everyone with a wide range of needs. Offering support with daily living and promoting independence where it is needed. This requires you to work closely with external agencies and your colleagues. 

Works with

  • Vulnerable Adults with support needs.
  • Externally: Work with local authorities and professionals.
  • Internally: Work in close partnership with other staff members, your area manager and head office.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with individuals to identify needs and support with managing these.
  • Support individuals their identified needs such as welfare benefits, mental health, physical health, substance and alcohol consumption, budgeting plans, accessing training, or education, health eating. All of which will be induvial to each tenant as per their identified support needs.
  • Liaise with appropriate external professionals and strong partnership working wherever possible to support tenants with their changing needs.
  • Inspect areas within the properties to arrange repairs and decorations and to ensure rooms are ready for new tenants to move in to. This includes promoting safe and clean use of communal areas and private rooms within the property.
  • Ensure relevant health and safety checks are carried out in accordance with the policies and procedures and report any issues.
  • Participate in team meetings, new initiatives and future changes to improve service delivery.
  • Work in a person-centred approach, with individuals at the forefront of what we do.
  • Ensure work practices meet Health & Safety requirements.
  • Always respect confidentiality and data protection regulations (GDPR).
  • Work with the area manager to provide advice and support to tenants about neighbour disputes, harassment and any other housing related occupancy issues e.g., security – to include liaison with third party agencies where appropriate e.g., police, support staff, social services etc.
  • Complete relevant paperwork which supports the tenants needs, reporting on these daily to monitor individuals.
  • To participate in training which is relevant to your role to meet the needs of individuals and to progress your skills and knowledge.
  • To monitor the security within the property and report any concerns.
  • To always work in a professional manner ensuring that professional boundaries are maintained throughout your working day.
  • Other tasks that may be requested from time to time by your manager which are not in the Job Description, but which reflect the general nature and level of the job.
  • Ensure that policy & procedure is adhered to.
  • Liaise with team leaders on updates regarding properties with no tenants.
  • Hold and Document Fortnightly Meetings with Team Leaders regarding empty properties and produce plans, and timelines on filling them.
  • Other duties as reasonably requested by your line manager.

Experience

  • Substantial operational support experience with a role.
  • Substantial experience managing work load.

Skills

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills along with being customer focused.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills; to balance multiple demands in a complex and challenging environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (Both written and verbal).
  • IT literate with demonstrable knowledge of Microsoft and database applications.
  • Good financial acumen with proven ability to take an analytical approach to information.
  • Ability to deal effectively with people from senior management.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively with the ability to proactively problem solve.

Each property requires a high-quality of support, delivered in a tenant-focused manner. To achieve this, you will be required to work as a part of a team with the Area Managers, support workers, third party vendors, whilst ensuring tenants are at the forefront of all decisions. Therefore, you will be required to understand the following legislation and policies –
